I have always admire all those Hot Toys 12″ from a far, marvel at their incredible details but never really though about owning one. Well that was until I saw Hot Toys Iron Man 12″ action figure, man does it looks good. I actually wanted to get the Mark III version but that was quite hard to find, so I decided to check out the Mark II. I somehow find myself liking the chrome color Iron Man rather than the hot rod red Iron Man and so here I am with my first Hot Toys action figure ^^.
The figure itself comes with a very nice looking box that you can see in my previous post. As was shown in the previous post the figure itself comes with an alternate head with Tony Stark face and removable magnetic faceplate, 4 alternate hand, 2 for each arm, and also the old arc reactor as presented to Tony Stark by Pepper Potts.
LED are installed on the figure for the palm repulsor ray, the eyes and the chest arc reactor. The switches for it are well hidden so you won’t see it unless you looks at the figure very closely. Each arm have it own switch for the LED, while the eyes and chest arc reactor is control by a single switch.
Articulation is quite limited due to the armor, but I guess that’s something they have to sacrifice to make it looks nice.
Flaps on the back opens up, the switch for the chest and eyes LED is hidden under one of the flaps.
Mini missles on the arm.
I didn’t actually open it in the correct way, the two side armor pieces was suppose to be pull apart and the mini missle pull up.
Amazing details, calf armor opens up showing the detailings inside.
This is the alternate face that Iron Man Mark II comes with. Robert Downey Jr is quite nicely sculpted. The face plate is attached magnetically to the head armor.
Overall I am really amazed at the amount of details Hot Toys put into their 12″ figures. Though the built can be a bit fragile, definitely not something you would want kids to play with, but then it wasn’t meant to be play with anyway ^^. Posing it for display is not a problem though, and it does comes with a stand to help with the posing, though becareful when using the stand since if you’re not careful you might scratch you figure.
My next Hot Toys would be the new The Dark Knight MMS DX 02 Batman figure, probably will get one of the Hot Toys Joker figure to go with him.
Took a bit of adjustment to my setup to this photoshoot, part of it was shoot with just my room light and low shutter speed, while a few of them are shot with a lamp providing light from the back. This setup works quite well and makes it easier to show off the LED light on him.
